Paul Bateson
General Manager of External Relations

Overview: responsible for developing a strong national presence for the foundation and managing relationships with partners in entrepreneurship and economic development. 

As the foundation’s general manager of External Relations, Paul Bateson is responsible for developing a strong national presence for the foundation and managing relationships with our partners in entrepreneurship and economic development. He also oversees Economic Gardening® and the System for Intentional Growth, including operations, marketing, outreach, training and certification. In addition to these two key programs, Bateson provides strategic direction and support to other initiatives within the foundation’s entrepreneurship division.

Previously Bateson served as program manager at the University of Missouri-Extension where he coordinated the state’s Economic Gardening program for second-stage companies and helped faculty and community-based entrepreneurs commercialize new technologies.

With expertise in sales and marketing, international trade and technology development, Bateson also has a long track record of success in the for-profit world. He has held a variety of senior positions at large and small businesses, with an emphasis in the industrial food ingredient industry.

Bateson holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial technology from the University of Wisconsin-Stout and an MBA degree from the University of Phoenix.
