Sharkey Cabin

Sharkey Cabin

History

Sharkey Cabin has the distinction of being the first house on property that Darlene decorated in 1974 or 1975. Ed had many stories about the Sharkey Lake area and Sharkey Hideaway when it was a honky-tonk and a haven for a Chicago gangster named Sharkey when things got too heated in Chicago.

Completely renovated in 2016, Sharkey Cabin is a wonderfully secluded spot on the foundation’s campus. Situated on the bluff above Sharkey Lake, the cabin offers a beautiful scenic overlook of the valley.

Like other guest houses at the foundation, the cabin is decorated with a mix of new furnishings and antiques to give it a comfortable and altogether approachable feel. The deck and landscaping add the perfect finishing touch to this gem in the woods.
